Wow! I never expected all this support - I'm actually pretty new around dA and haven't gotten a chance to really compete in anything, so it's fantastic to see this community really opening up to everyone.
Well I am just blown away, and beyond honored to be featured here in the semi-finalists. Especially for someone who is so unknown around here, it feels great to be selected! Thanks for the support everyone!
A little more detail on the concept:
It's a light bulb. Inside that light bulb, is the possibility for our future. The light bulb is given life by the tree roots themselves, and uses it to provide light to what's within, spreading more to the tree within as well as the animals. It forms a little world inside with its own miniature sun, and the waterfalls flowing out of the power pegs spreads the beauty of the serene world inside to the dull world outside.
What I have is an original take on an idea that's familiar to many. I feel that by taking things that many would think of as old or boring and making them new and different, you can breathe new life into them and revive the zeal and spirit to support them.
If we don't act now, then so much of our world will be lost. I wanted to incorporate lots of nature into the man-made light here (for a brighter future - haha get it?) to express my dream. My dream is to see tomorrow's children, grandchildren and know that they will have a beautiful world to enjoy.
Some snacks, a good chunk of time, and the same song and repeat work nicely. Make sure you look closely - There's lots to see that you might not find at first. :]

The biggest centers of work were the waterfalls (very time-consuming to get them right), cleaning the light bulb (it was a tad dirty), and blending in all those details.
Have always wanted a tablet of my own - all my work now is done with a mouse and keyboard
